I wonder if aspergers plays a part in this. I have always favoured the slightly yellow, warmish hue of artificial light as opposed to natural light, which I find cold and depressing. I was diagnosed as an adult, and whilst I was watching the end of this video I realised that I'm apparently rather inordinary when it comes to colour temperature preference. It's really quite a fascinating subject, at least to me.

"Color temperature" is not some historical artifact. An object at a given temperature will glow according to the Rayleigh-Jeans or Planck law, and that distribution of frequencies is defined as the standard distribution for that "temperature." It's arguably something we just made up, but it's meaningful: a color temperature of T means that the color is distributed just as it would be if an object of temperature T were glowing. In principle, you should be able to precisely measure the temperature of your stove's heating elements by the colors they emit, according to that function. No other function will work.
